Robert Joy is a Canadian actor. Born on 17 August 1951 in Montreal, he grew up in St. John's, Newfoundland. He studied at Memorial University of Newfoundland and attended Corpus Christi College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar.

Joy began his career with the Newfoundland comedy troupe CODCO and has worked extensively in theatre, including Shakespearean productions and Broadway shows. His film roles include Dave in *Atlantic City* (1980), for which he received a Genie Award nomination, Harry K. Thaw in *Ragtime* (1981), and Jim in *Desperately Seeking Susan* (1985). He is best known for playing medical examiner Sid Hammerback in the television series *CSI: NY* (2005–2013).

Other notable film appearances include *Land of the Dead* (2005), *The Hills Have Eyes* (2006), *Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem* (2007) and *Don't Look Up* (2021). He has also composed music for film.
