## Biography

Robert Kalloch (1893–1947), often credited mononymously as Kalloch, was an American costume designer. He began his career as a designer of high-fashion gowns for royalty, the social elite and revue stars, working for the British couturière Lucile (Lady Duff-Gordon).

Columbia Pictures hired him in 1933 as its first contract costume designer and he established the studio's wardrobe department. His credits there include *It Happened One Night* (1934), *The Awful Truth* (1937), *Mr. Smith Goes to Washington* (1939), *Only Angels Have Wings* (1939) and *His Girl Friday* (1940). He later worked briefly at MGM before freelancing; he was posthumously inducted into the Costume Designers Hall of Fame in 2004.
