## Biography

Robert Lord (1900–1976) was an American screenwriter and film producer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began writing for films in the mid-1920s and worked extensively at Warner Bros. from 1927 until 1941.

He received an Academy Award for Best Original Story for *One Way Passage* (1932) and a nomination in the same category for *Black Legion* (1937). As a producer, his credits include *Flirtation Walk* (1934), *Gold Diggers of 1933* (1933) and later independent productions such as *In a Lonely Place* (1950).

Lord also served as associate producer or production supervisor on numerous Warner Bros. films in the 1930s and 1940s before joining Santana Productions in the late 1940s.
