## Biography

Robert Pittack (also credited as Robert W. Pittack and similar variants) was an American cinematographer. He was born on 19 September 1899 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and died on 5 May 1976 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California.

Pittack began his career in the early 1930s as a camera operator on feature films including *She Done Him Wrong* (1933). He later worked as director of photography on numerous films and television series. He is best known for serving as director of photography on twenty episodes of the anthology series *The Twilight Zone* (1959) between 1962 and 1964.

Pittack received three Primetime Emmy nominations for his cinematography, for episodes of *Private Secretary* (1956), *General Electric Theater* (1957) and *The Twilight Zone* (1963). He was the younger brother of silent film actress Wanda Hawley.
