## Biography

Robert Rietti (sometimes credited as Robert Rietty or Bobby Rietti) was an English actor, voice artist and dubbing director. Born Lucio Herbert Rietti on 8 February 1923 in Paddington, London, he was the son of the actor Victor Rietti and began his career as a child, appearing on stage with his father's Teatro Italiano company and in films from the early 1930s.

He became particularly known for his extensive dubbing work, providing voices in over 200 films including the James Bond series and re-recording dialogue for actors such as Orson Welles and Jack Hawkins. Notable voice credits include Lodovico in *Othello* (1951), roles in *Lawrence of Arabia* (1962), *Doctor Zhivago* (1965) and *The Guns of Navarone* (1961). On screen he appeared in *The Italian Job* (1969) and *Sunday Bloody Sunday* (1971). Rietti also wrote plays and translated works by Pirandello; he died in London on 3 April 2015.
