## Biography

Robert Scheerer (1929–2018) was an American film and television director, actor and producer. He began his career as a dancer, appearing in films including *Mister Big* (1943) with the tap group the Jivin' Jacks and Jills, and performed on Broadway in *Lend an Ear* (1948), for which he received a Theatre World Award.

Scheerer later moved into directing, winning a Primetime Emmy Award in 1964 for *The Danny Kaye Show* and receiving three further Emmy nominations for episodes of *Fame*. He directed episodes of numerous series, including *Gilligan's Island*, *Hawaii Five-O*, *The Love Boat*, *Dynasty*, *Matlock* and *Star Trek: The Next Generation* (11 episodes). He also directed the feature film *How to Beat the High Cost of Living* (1980) and one episode of *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine* ('Shadowplay', 1994) as well as two of *Star Trek: Voyager*.
