## Biography

Robert Van Scoyk (1928–2002) was an American television writer, producer and story editor. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he began his career in New York after serving in the United States Army Air Corps and working as a pageboy at NBC studios. He wrote for anthology series such as *The Imogene Coca Show*, *U.S. Steel Hour* and *Kraft Theatre* before moving to Los Angeles in the late 1960s.

In Los Angeles he contributed to numerous series across genres, including *The Virginian*, *Banacek*, *Ellery Queen*, *Ironside* and *Magnum, P.I.*. He wrote for *Columbo* and received an Edgar Allan Poe Award in 1979 for the episode 'Murder Under Glass'. He maintained a long association with *Murder, She Wrote* from 1984 to 1996, writing or contributing to 108 episodes as well as serving as producer and executive story editor.
