## Biography

Roberto Perpignani is an Italian film editor born on 20 April 1941 in Rome. He began his career in 1962 as assistant editor on Orson Welles's *The Trial* and received his first editing credit on Bernardo Bertolucci's *Before the Revolution* (1964).

Perpignani has edited more than one hundred films and television programmes. He is known for his work on *Last Tango in Paris* (1972), *The Night of the Shooting Stars* (1982), *The Postman* (1994), *Caesar Must Die* (2012) and *Rainbow: A Private Affair* (2017). He won three David di Donatello Awards for Best Editing, including one for *The Postman*, and received a Premio Bianchi at the Venice International Film Festival.

He was married to film producer Grazia Volpi until her death in 2020.
