## Biography

Rod Beacham (3 December 1940 – 12 February 2013) was a British actor and television writer. He began his career as a performer, appearing in series including *Doctor Who* (as Corporal Lane in *The Web of Fear*, 1968), *Z Cars* and various BBC Shakespeare productions.

Beacham later concentrated on writing, contributing episodes to *Bergerac* (1983–1990, eight episodes), *Blake's 7* (1981), *Agatha Christie's Poirot* (dramatised by for one episode, 1991), *The Bill* (1997–2000, five episodes) and others. He also wrote numerous radio plays for the BBC.
