## Biography

Roger Carlson (1928–2017) was an American bookstore owner and occasional interview subject in documentaries. He ran Bookman’s Alley, a used-book shop in Evanston, Illinois, from 1979 until his retirement.

Carlson appeared as himself in the 2013 documentary *Finding Vivian Maier*, discussing his encounters with the photographer Vivian Maier, who was a regular customer at his store. He also featured in the 2007 short *Manipulativa Sekter*.

A Minnesota native, Carlson previously worked in advertising before opening his Evanston shop, which was referenced in Audrey Niffenegger’s novel *The Time Traveler’s Wife*.
