Roger Delgado (1918–1973) was an English actor best known for originating the role of the Master in the BBC series *Doctor Who* (1963). He first appeared as the character in the 1971 serial *Terror of the Autons* and reprised it across multiple Third Doctor stories until 1973.

Born in Whitechapel, London, to a Spanish father and French mother, Delgado served in the British Army during the Second World War, rising to the rank of major. He began his acting career on stage in 1939 and on television in 1948, appearing in numerous films and series, often in villainous roles. He died in a car accident in Turkey while filming the mini-series *La Cloche tibétaine*.
