## Biography

Roland Lui, also known as Roland Got, was a Chinese American character actor who worked in Hollywood films during the 1930s and 1940s.

Born Roland Lui Got in San Francisco in 1916, he moved with his family to Los Angeles and attended Jefferson High School. After high school he signed a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and trained at the Motion Picture Academy. His first major role was as the Younger Son in the 1937 film *The Good Earth*.

He appeared in nearly twenty films, including *Extortion* (1938), *The Letter* (1940) and *The Shanghai Gesture* (1941). His career ended when he was drafted into the US Army during the Second World War. He died in San Francisco in 1948, aged 32.
