## Biography

Roland Monod (1929–2015) was a French actor, theatre director and scenographer. Born in Strasbourg, he is known for film roles including the Priest of Leiris in Robert Bresson’s *A Man Escaped* (1956), Antoine in Alain Resnais’s *The War Is Over* (1966) and the president of the tribunal in *Two Men in Town* (1973).

Monod directed the Théâtre Quotidien de Marseille from 1956 to 1966. He later served as president of the association Jean-Vilar, which runs the Maison Jean-Vilar in Avignon. A tribute evening was held in his honour in Paris in October 2015.
