## Biography

Roman Mann (1911–1960) was a Polish production designer and art director. He studied architecture at Lviv Polytechnic, graduating in 1937, and continued his training in interior architecture and stage design at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna in 1938.

Mann worked in film from the late 1940s, designing sets for more than thirty productions. He collaborated with Andrzej Wajda on *A Generation* (1955), *Kanal* (1957) and *Ashes and Diamonds* (1958), and with Jerzy Kawalerowicz on *Mother Joan of the Angels* (1961). Other credits include *Knights of the Teutonic Order* (1960).

He died in Zakopane, Poland, on 11 March 1960.
