## Biography

Ron Highfield was a New Zealand production designer and art director. He worked on landmark 1970s television productions including *Pukemanu* and *The God Boy* before contributing to the New Zealand feature film renaissance of the 1980s and 1990s.

His credits include production design on *Utu* (1983) and *Came a Hot Friday* (1985), as well as *The Shrimp on the Barbie* (1990). He received a New Zealand Film and Television Award for best production design for *The End of the Golden Weather* (1991) and a nomination for *The Last Tattoo* (1994). Highfield also worked on the *Lawless* television films and as senior art director on the Australian feature *Young Einstein* (1988).

He died on 10 October 2022.
