## Biography

Ron Ramin is an American composer for television, film and concert music. Born in 1953 in New York City, he studied music at Princeton University, where he worked privately with Milton Babbitt, before moving to Los Angeles to begin his career.

He has composed scores for numerous prime-time series, including *Cagney & Lacey* (1982), *Walker, Texas Ranger* (1993–1997) and *Christy* (1994–1995), as well as more than thirty television films and miniseries. Ramin received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work on the pilot of *Christy* and a CableACE Award for the score of *Rent-a-Kid* (1995). He is the son of composer and orchestrator Sid Ramin and has also written concert works, including the symphonic suite *Golden State of Mind*.

Ramin is married to journalist and author Cathryn Jakobson Ramin.
