## Biography

Ronald Austin is an American television writer and producer. Born in Los Angeles in 1934, he graduated from UCLA film school in 1956. He began his career as a child actor and later worked as a social worker after being blacklisted in the 1950s.

Austin wrote episodes of *Mission: Impossible* (1966) between 1969 and 1972. His other credits include writing and producing on *Charlie's Angels* (1976), for which he also directed episodes, and writing on *Cannon* (1971). He created the series *Chopper One* (1974) and contributed to *Matlock* and other programmes. He has received lifetime achievement awards from the Writers Guild of America.

Later in his career Austin taught screenwriting and wrote on the intersection of faith and the media arts, including the book *In a New Light: Spirituality and the Media Arts* (2006).
