## Biography

Rosalie Crutchley (4 January 1920 – 28 July 1997) was an English actress. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music, she made her stage debut in 1932 and her screen debut in 1947 in *Take My Life*. She maintained a long career across theatre, film and television.

Her film roles include Sister Eleanor in *The Nun's Story* (1959), Mrs. Leivers in *Sons and Lovers* (1960), Acte in *Quo Vadis* (1951) and Mrs. Dudley in *The Haunting* (1963). On television she played Catherine Parr in *The Six Wives of Henry VIII* (1970) and the sequel *Elizabeth R* (1971), and Lucy Bellringer in *Midsomer Murders* (1997). She received the Guild of Television Award for Best Actress in 1956 and an International Television Award for *The Six Wives of Henry VIII*.
