On screen she is known for roles including Miss Busby in *Twins* (1988), Dr. Lull in *Total Recall* (1990), the Treasury Secretary in *Cliffhanger* (1993), Grandma Barbara in *Orphan* (2009), Professor Susan Duncan in *Orphan Black* (2013–2017) and Dr. Mixter in *Chucky* (2021). She played Abigail MacEwan in the series *Road to Avonlea* (1990–1996). Dunsmore won a Dora Mavor Moore Award for her stage performance in *Straight Ahead/Blind Dancers* (1982) and an ACTRA Award for Best Actress for *The Baby Formula* (2008).
