## Biography

Roshan Kumari is an Indian classical dancer, actor and choreographer, known for her work in Kathak of the Jaipur gharana. She appeared as Krishna Bai in Satyajit Ray’s *The Music Room* (1958), performing a nine-minute Kathak sequence.

She later worked as a choreographer on films including *Gopi* (1970), *Chaitali* (1975), *Lekin...* (1990) and *Sardari Begum* (1996). Kumari founded the Nritya Kala Kendra academy in Mumbai. She received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1976 and the Padma Shri in 1984.
