## Biography

Rowan Joffé is a British screenwriter and director. He is the son of director Roland Joffé and actress Jane Lapotaire, and half-brother of actress Nathalie Lunghi.

Joffé began writing plays while at the University of Oxford and received a Cameron Mackintosh bursary. His early screenwriting credits include *Last Resort* (2000) and the television drama *Gas Attack*, both of which won the Best New British Feature Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. He co-wrote the screenplay for *28 Weeks Later* (2007).

Joffé wrote the screenplay for *The American* (2010) and adapted and directed *Brighton Rock* (2010). He directed and co-wrote *Before I Go to Sleep* (2014). He created and wrote the television series *Tin Star* (2017).
