## Biography

Roy Atwell was an American actor and comedian. Born John Leroy Atwell on 2 May 1878 in Syracuse, New York, he died on 6 February 1962 in New York City. He trained at the Sargent School of Acting and began his career on the stage.

Atwell appeared in 34 films between 1914 and 1947, often in cameo roles or as characters who stammered or misdelivered lines. He provided the uncredited voice of Doc in the Disney film *Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs* (1937). He also performed in numerous Broadway productions from the 1910s to the 1930s.

In addition to acting, Atwell composed songs and joined ASCAP in 1957.
