## Biography

Ruben Santiago-Hudson is an American actor, playwright and director. Born Ruben Santiago Jr. on 24 November 1956 in Lackawanna, New York, he holds a BA from Binghamton University and an MFA from Wayne State University.

He is known for his Broadway work, including a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for *Seven Guitars* (1996) and directing the Tony-winning revival of *Jitney* (2017). He wrote and starred in the autobiographical play *Lackawanna Blues*, which he adapted for an HBO film. On screen he played Captain Roy Montgomery in the ABC series *Castle* (2009–2011) and has appeared in films including *American Gangster* (2007) and *Selma* (2014).
