## Biography

Rudolf Blümner was a German actor, reciter, dramaturg and essayist. He studied law from 1892 to 1896, left the civil service in 1899 to pursue acting, and worked as a speech teacher before joining the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin from 1906 to 1912.

Blümner appeared in silent films including *Der Golem* (1915) and *Sylvester* (1924), and in sound films such as *M* (1931), in which he played Beckert's defender, and *Der Hauptmann von Köpenick* (1931). He was also active in the expressionist Sturm circle as a reciter and contributor to the journal *Der Sturm*. He died in Berlin on 3 September 1945.
