## Biography

Rudolf Lenz was an Austrian actor. Born in Graz, he studied engineering and served as a naval engineer during the Second World War before entering the theatre after 1945. He made his stage debut in 1950 at the municipal theatres in Graz and later worked in Klagenfurt and at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna.

Lenz became known in the 1950s for leading roles in Heimatfilme, beginning with *Der Förster vom Silberwald* (1954). In the 1970s and early 1980s he appeared in several films by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, including *World on a Wire* (1973), *Martha* (1974), *Effi Briest* (1974), *Fox and His Friends* (1975) as Attorney Dr. Siebenkäss, and *Lili Marleen* (1981). He died in 1987.
