## Biography

Rudolf Sieber was a screenwriter and production manager. He received an uncredited co-writing credit, alongside Edwin J. Burke, on the 1931 Fox film *Bad Girl*, directed by Frank Borzage and adapted from a novel and play by Viña Delmar.

Sieber worked in the German film industry from the early 1920s, serving as production manager or assistant director on several silent features including *Der Mönch von Santarem* (1924), *Schatten der Weltstadt* (1925) and *Luther – Ein Film der deutschen Reformation* (1927). He later moved to the United States.

In 1923 he married actress Marlene Dietrich in Berlin; the couple had a daughter, Maria Riva, born in 1924. They remained married until Sieber's death in 1976, though they separated in the mid-1930s. From 1953 he lived on a poultry farm in California's San Fernando Valley.
