## Biography

Russ Woody is an American television writer and producer. He graduated from California State University, Chico in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in speech and drama. He began his writing career in the early 1980s, selling scripts to series including *Benson* and *Webster* before joining MTM Enterprises, where he wrote episodes of *Newhart*, *St. Elsewhere* (1982) and *Hill Street Blues* (1981).

Woody later worked as a writer and producer on *Murphy Brown* (1988), earning a Primetime Emmy Award as part of the writing team in 1990. His other credits include *Mad About You*, *The Drew Carey Show*, *Becker*, *The Middle* and *Haters Back Off*. He received a Golden Globe Award for his work on *Cybill*.
