## Biography

Russell F. Schoengarth was an American film editor. He trained in film editing in Hollywood during the silent era and worked as an assistant editor before becoming a full editor in the early 1930s.

He edited numerous films for smaller studios such as Grand National and Monogram in the 1930s, before joining Universal Pictures in 1942, where he remained for over 25 years. His credits include *My Man Godfrey* (1936), *Werewolf of London* (1935), *Phantom of the Opera* (1943), *Bend of the River* (1952), *The Far Country* (1954), *Written on the Wind* (1956) and *Midnight Lace* (1960). He later worked in television, editing episodes of series including *Rawhide* (1959).

Schoengarth also served as associate producer on *The Boy Who Cried Werewolf* (1973). He died in Palm Desert, California, in 1974.
