Ruth Negga is an Irish actress. Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she was raised in Limerick, Ireland, and trained at the Samuel Beckett Centre at Trinity College Dublin, graduating with a BA in Acting Studies.

She gained international recognition for her portrayal of Mildred Loving in the 2016 film *Loving*, earning nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe. Other film roles include appearances in *World War Z* (2013), *Warcraft* (2016) and *Ad Astra* (2019). On television she played Raina in *Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.* (2013–2018) and Tulip O'Hare in *Preacher* (2016–2019). She has also worked extensively in theatre.
