Ruth Rose (16 January 1896 – 8 June 1978) was an American screenwriter. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, the daughter of playwright Edward E. Rose, and worked as a writer and explorer before entering film.

She met director Ernest B. Schoedsack on a 1925 expedition to the Galapagos Islands; they married in 1926 and collaborated on several productions. Rose is best known for her screenplay for *King Kong* (1933), on which she reworked an earlier draft to improve pacing and dialogue. Her other credits include *Son of Kong* (1933), *She* (1935), *The Last Days of Pompeii* (1935) and *Mighty Joe Young* (1949).
