Ryan McPartlin is an American actor. Born on 3 July 1975 in Chicago, Illinois, he graduated with a degree in speech communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, where he played football as a walk-on tight end. He began his career with modelling before making his first on-screen appearance in an episode of *The Nanny* in 1999. Subsequent early roles included *Passions* and *Living with Fran* (2005–2006).

McPartlin is best known for his portrayal of Devon "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb on the series *Chuck* (2007–2012). Other credits include *J. Edgar* (2011), *Hunter Killer* (2018), *L.A.'s Finest* (2019–2020) and guest appearances in *Mad Men* (2008) and *Community* (2009).
