## Biography

Sam Edwards (26 May 1915 – 28 July 2004) was an American actor. Born in Macon, Georgia, he grew up in a show-business family and began performing as a child, appearing on radio in series such as The Adventures of Sonny and Buddy and One Man's Family.

Edwards supplied the voice of adult Thumper in the Disney animated film *Bambi* (1942). His film credits also include *Twelve O'Clock High* (1949), *Operation Pacific* (1951), *The Beatniks* (1960), *Hello, Dolly!* (1969) and *The Postman Always Rings Twice* (1981).

On television he played banker Bill Anderson in *Little House on the Prairie* (1978–1983) and appeared in numerous series including *Dragnet*, *Gunsmoke*, *Mission: Impossible*, *Happy Days* and *The Dukes of Hazzard*.
