Sam Harper is an American screenwriter, film director and producer. He worked as a reporter and associate editor for the trade publication Advertising Age before moving to California as a story analyst.

His screenwriting credits include *Rookie of the Year* (1993), *Just Married* (2003), *Cheaper by the Dozen* (2003), *Cheaper by the Dozen 2* (2005), *Open Season* (2006) and *Rio* (2011). He also directed and co-wrote *House Broken* (2009). He is the brother of actress Jessica Harper and composer William Harper.
