## Biography

Samuel D. Pollard is an American film director, editor, producer and screenwriter. He began his career in 1972 as an editor after taking courses in a WNET workshop and obtained a BA from Baruch College in 1973. Early mentors included Victor Kanefsky and George Bowers.

Pollard has edited several feature films directed by Spike Lee, including *Clockers* (1995). He has directed documentaries for television series such as *American Experience*. His work includes the Academy Award-nominated *4 Little Girls* (1997), for which he received a nomination alongside Spike Lee. In 2020, the International Documentary Association gave him a career achievement award.
