Sam Trammell is an American actor. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was raised in Charleston, West Virginia, and graduated from Brown University in 1991. He has worked extensively in theatre, with credits including a Tony Award-nominated performance in the 1998 Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's *Ah, Wilderness!* at Lincoln Center.

Trammell is best known for his role as Sam Merlotte in the HBO series *True Blood* (2008–2014). His other screen credits include appearances in *House* (2004), *Dexter* (2006), *The Fault in Our Stars* (2014), *Imperium* (2016) and *This Is Us* (2016).
