Sandi Sissel is an American cinematographer, director and producer. Born on 9 August 1949 in Paris, Texas, she earned a BFA from Southern Methodist University and an MA from the University of Wisconsin. She began her career in network news at NBC and ABC before working as a freelance cinematographer on documentaries and feature films.

Her credits as director of photography include *Salaam Bombay!* (1988) and *The People Under the Stairs* (1991). She has also served as second-unit director of photography on films such as *Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World* (2003) and worked on documentaries including *Chicken Ranch* and *Mother Teresa* (1986). Sissel joined the American Society of Cinematographers in 1994 and taught advanced cinematography at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts from 2001 to 2015.
