## Biography

Sandra Ellis Lafferty is an American actress. She began her career as a stage actor and was named best actress for a season by the Denver drama critics while a member of the Denver Center Theatre Company; she was also named best actress by Westword magazine. She started working in film at the age of 50, after a small role in *Dogfight* (1991).

Lafferty has appeared in guest roles on television series including *NYPD Blue*, *Melrose Place*, *Baywatch* and *Boy Meets World*. Her film roles include Maybelle Carter in *Walk the Line* (2005), Greasy Sae in *The Hunger Games* (2012) and *The Hunger Games: Catching Fire* (2013), Mrs Milland in *Prisoners* (2013), Phyllis Jensen in *Self/less* (2015) and the Widow Deborah in *A Walk in the Woods* (2015). She has also worked in independent films and volunteers as artistic director at the Mentone Arts & Cultural Center, mentoring high school theatre students.
