Born Sandra Williamson on 6 October 1936 in the Shetland Islands, she began her screen career in 1966 with an appearance in an episode of *Dr. Finlay's Casebook*. Her film roles include Mrs Fraser in *Local Hero* (1983), the Bag Lady in *Naked* (1993), Mother in *Breaking the Waves* (1996), Marie Fröhlich in *Immortal Beloved* (1994), Vera's Mother in *Vera Drake* (2004) and the Witch in the series *Vikings* (2013). She has appeared in numerous British television series including *Coronation Street*, *Midsomer Murders*, *Shetland* and *Call the Midwife*. Voe has performed in theatres across the UK, including the Royal National Theatre, Royal Court and Manchester Royal Exchange.
