## Biography

Sasson Gabai (also credited as Sasson Gabay) is an Israeli actor. He was born on 24 November 1947 in Baghdad, Iraq, to a Baghdadi Jewish family and immigrated to Israel as a child. After military service, he studied theatre and psychology at Tel Aviv University and began his career in stage productions at the Khan Theatre and other Israeli companies, including the Beit Lessin Theatre.

Gabai has appeared in numerous Israeli and international films and television series. He is known for his role as Mousa in *Rambo III* (1988), Hamid in *Not Without My Daughter* (1991), Yuri in *The Order* (2001), Tewfiq Zakaria in *The Band's Visit* (2007), Simeon Amsalem in *Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem* (2014), Shimon Peres in *Oslo* (2021), and roles in series including *WeCrashed* (2022) and *Tehran* (2020). For his performance in *The Band's Visit*, he received the Ophir Award, a European Film Award and other accolades in 2007.
