## Biography

Savanah Leaf is a British-American film director, writer and video artist. Born in London in 1993 and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she competed in volleyball for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics before turning to filmmaking after an injury. She holds a psychology degree from the University of Miami and a master's in drama from Central Saint Martins.

Leaf's debut feature *Earth Mama* (2023), which she also wrote and produced, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was released by A24. It won the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Earlier work includes the 2020 short documentary *The Heart Still Hums*, co-directed with Taylor Russell, and music videos such as Gary Clark Jr.'s "This Land", which received a Grammy nomination. Her mother, Alison Leaf, works as a set dresser and animator.
