## Biography

Elsa Schiaparelli (1890–1973) was an Italian-born fashion designer and costume designer. She established Maison Schiaparelli in Paris in 1927 and became known for her surrealist-inspired clothing and accessories.

Schiaparelli designed costumes for numerous films. Her credits include *When Thief Meets Thief* (1937), *Love in Exile* (1936) and *Moulin Rouge* (1952), for which she created outfits worn by Zsa Zsa Gabor.
