## Biography

Scott Brown is an American screenwriter, author, journalist and critic. He grew up in Durham, North Carolina, and attended Harvard University. He began his career in journalism at Entertainment Weekly and later served as chief theatre critic for New York magazine from 2010 to 2014, winning the George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism in 2013.

His television credits include writing for the HBO miniseries Sharp Objects (2018), the series Manhattan (2014–2015) and Castle Rock (2018–2019), and serving as a consulting producer on Utopia (2020). He received a Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Long Form – Original for his work on Castle Rock. Brown has also written for the stage, co-authoring the musical Gutenberg! The Musical! with Anthony King.

He is the author of the young adult novel XL (2019).
