Sean Whitesell (1963–2015) was an American television writer and producer. He began his career as an actor with recurring roles on *Homicide: Life on the Street* and *Oz*, before transitioning to writing and producing.

He wrote 13 episodes of *Homicide: Life on the Street* (1993) and contributed episodes to *Oz* (1997), *Boston Public* (2000), *Cold Case* (2003), *House* (2004) and *The Killing* (2011). He also served as a producer or co-executive producer on several of these series.

Whitesell was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa, and studied at the University of Northern Iowa and the University of California, San Diego. He was the brother of director John Whitesell and agent Patrick Whitesell.
