## Biography

Sebastian Coe is a British former middle-distance runner, politician and sports administrator. Born in 1956, he won four Olympic medals, including 1500 metres gold at the 1980 and 1984 Games, and set multiple world records in the 1970s and 1980s.

After retiring from athletics, Coe served as a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1992 to 1997 and was created a life peer in 2000. He led the successful London 2012 Olympic bid and later became president of World Athletics.

Coe has made occasional television and film appearances as himself, including in the sitcom *The Brittas Empire* (1994) and archive footage in the documentary *Icarus* (2017).
