## Biography

Sharat Raju is an American director and writer. He was born in Chicago and raised in Darien, Illinois. He earned a BA in English from the University of Michigan and an MFA in directing from the American Film Institute.

Raju is known for directing episodes of numerous television series, including *The Walking Dead* (four episodes, 2020–2022), *Fear the Walking Dead* (2018–2022), *Bosch: Legacy* (2022–2025), *Criminal Minds* (2016–2026), *The Good Doctor* (2018), *9-1-1: Lone Star* (2020–2021) and *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit*. His early short film *American Made* (2003) won multiple festival awards and aired on PBS’s *Independent Lens*.

He has also directed documentaries on immigrant experiences in the United States, often in collaboration with his wife, filmmaker Valarie Kaur. Raju previously worked in casting on films including *The Matrix Reloaded* and *The Matrix Revolutions*.
