## Biography

Sharron Miller is an American television and film director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in theatre in 1971 and attended graduate school in film at Northwestern University. She began her career in Hollywood as a script supervisor before working as a sound and film editor, and directed her first professional project in 1976 on the series *The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams*.

Miller is known for directing episodes of series including *Cagney & Lacey* (1985–1988) and *L.A. Law* (1986–1987), as well as the 1978 film *The House of the Dead*. In 1983 she produced and directed the ABC Afterschool Special *The Woman Who Willed a Miracle*, for which she became the first woman to win the Directors Guild of America Award for a dramatic narrative work. She received Emmy and DGA Award nominations for her work on *Cagney & Lacey*.
