## Biography

Shelagh Fraser was an English actress. Born Sheila Mary Fraser on 25 November 1920 in Purley, Surrey, she made her London stage debut in 1944 and worked in theatre, film and television until her death.

She is best known for playing Jean Ashton in the television serial *A Family at War* (1970–1971) and Aunt Beru in *Star Wars* (1977). Other film roles include *The Witches* (1966), *Till Death Us Do Part* (1968), *Doomwatch* (1972) and *Hope and Glory* (1987). She also appeared in series such as *The Professionals* (1977) and *Midsomer Murders* (1997).

Fraser was married to director Anthony Squire from 1961 until their divorce. Her sister was ballerina and actress Moyra Fraser. She died on 29 August 2000 in London.
