Sherman Payne is a writer, producer and director. He earned a BFA in Film Production from Wright State University and an MFA in Screenwriting from Columbia University.

Payne has written for the television series *Shameless* (2011), serving as writer, executive story editor and co-producer; *Legacies* (2018); and *Scream: The TV Series* (2015). His feature screenplays include *Charm City Kings* (2020), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and *Black as Night* (2021). He created and served as showrunner on the series *Emperor of Ocean Park* (2024).
