He began his acting career in television, appearing in the TV Asahi drama series *Edogawa Ranpo* from 1978, with a formal debut in the TBS series *Shichinin no Keiji* in 1979. His film debut followed in 1982 with *To Trap a Kidnapper*. Takuma is known for his roles in the Godzilla franchise, playing Hiroshi Okumura in *The Return of Godzilla* (1984) and *Godzilla 1985* (1985), and Tokumitsu Yuhara in *Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla* (2002).
