## Biography

Shinji Higuchi (樋口 真嗣) is a Japanese film director, special effects director, screenwriter and storyboard artist. He entered the industry in 1984 as an assistant modeler on *The Return of Godzilla* and was one of the four founding members of Gainax (originally Daicon Films).

Higuchi contributed as writer, assistant director and storyboard artist to the anime series *Neon Genesis Evangelion* (1995). He directed special effects for the Gamera trilogy in the 1990s and has since directed live-action films including *Attack on Titan* (2015), *Shin Godzilla* (2016) and *Shin Ultraman* (2022).
